At OHC, we believe that families are among the most powerful teachers. As such, our learning resources are carefully curated to reflect the invaluable insights that professionals can gain from families. These resources include examples of community organizations, both local and national, that provide essential support to families who have a loved one with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
It is important to note that the list of community resources we offer is not exhaustive. Our intention is to provide excellent examples that serve as a reference point for future healthcare providers, helping them understand the standards and possibilities in this field.
As you embark on your journey as future healthcare professionals, we encourage you to build your own lists of community resources. This practice is an integral part of your toolkit for supporting the families you will care for.

How to Use the Resource Page

The resource page has three different modes of looking finding the resource(s) you are interested in:

  1. keyword or phrase
  2. resource type
  3. topical area

If the results are empty, change your criteria to be less restrictive and if the result are too many, add more qualifications to your selection. Also, please note the keyword search and resource/topical searches are mutually exclusive.

Keyword or Phrase Search

Enter a key word or phrase. If there are no results, use fewer, different or more general key words. Please note that phrases need to be an exact match.

Resource Type Search

Select two or more research types. The research type buttons are color-coded to match the resulting cards. If there are no results, select other research types or chose the "All" option.

Topical Area Search

Select two or more topics to restrict your search. If there are no results, select fewer topics or chose the "All" option.
